True or false?

  1. Breast implants are a one time procedure. They’ll last an entire life time.
  2. Breast augmentation is a minor procedure.
  3. Breast implants are 100% safe.

All these statements are a pack of lies. Take the first statement, about this being a one time procedure.

Many women think that once the implant is in, you can leave it there and forget about it. Nothing is further than the truth.

  1. Breast implants do NOT last forever. After 13 to 15 years, the incidence of rupture is 85%. Meaning, you can expect to change implants a few times in your lifetime.
  2. Even if the operation goes well, the final result might not be what you want. In fact within the first 3 years of having the breast augmentation surgery, 13% to 21% of the women have a redo surgery.
  3. You need maintenance. Get them checked to make sure they’re still good. You’d need maintenance in 10 to 15 years from the time you get the implants inserted. Worn out implants must be replaced.

As for breast augmentation being a minor procedure, I suggest you sit in on one such breast augmentation surgery as an onlooker and gauge for yourself whether it is minor or not. For the record, most women who had that surgery liken the post surgery pain to being as bad being hit by a truck. A mom who had gone through previous surgeries as well as labour thought it would be a cinch but the pain on day one, when she awoke from the surgery, was so bad, she thought she had crippled herself. Anyway, if you do go for breast augmentation, be prepared for the pain once the anaesthetic wears off.

The worse lie is that breast implants are 100% safe. Here’s the list of possible complications with breast enhancement surgery. In the first place, no surgery is 100% safe. There is always an element of risk. For breast implants surgery, the risks include.

  1. Infection – a risk with every surgery.
  2. Reaction to the anaesthesia – also a risk with every surgery.
  3. Capsule contracture – Your body forms a capsule around the implant. This fibrous tissue, in normal cases, the pocket made for the implant should stay open. When capsular contrature occurs, the capsule tightens and squeezes the implant, leaving the breast hard, painful and fake-looking.
  4. Necrosis, or tissue death, though not a common complication is possible. If it happens, the dead tissue forms around the implant and can prevent wound healing. In some cases, the implant has to be removed.
  5. Permanent loss of nipple sensation can oocur after surgery. It happens for 10% to 18% of the women with breast implants
  6. Implant deflation – about 4% of the implants deflate in the first year, with 1% per year in the following years.
  7. Hematoma – Considering breast surgery is done for its cosmetic effect, hematoma is one of the awful complications that can come with breast augmentation. Basically, the blood leaks out of the vessels and pools in the skin tissue, leading to a huge, ugly blood clot that can be painful.

With all these possible complications of breast implants, do you still want to go for it?

There are other ways of getting bigger breasts without surgery. If you just want cleavage for that special night out, you can always wear a padded bra. The liquid-filled bras are particularly realistic.

If you want your breasts to be bigger permanently, try natural breast enhancement. Sure, it takes time, but the results are worth it, plus, you avoid the risks that come with surgery.

Women who have had breast implants are many times faced with the decision to have breast implant removal within a few years of the original procedure. Here are some facts you need to know which can help you in determining whether or not you need this type of surgery.

Reasons

There are several reasons for having breast implants removed. Sometimes there is a change of size or shape of the breast after having breast augmentation. Implants can sag, shift, deflate, rupture, cause wrinkling or become asymmetrical in appearance.

Leakage or rupturing of an implant is cause for a surgical procedure because the material itself will seep into the surrounding tissues not to mention the problematic appearance of a ruptured implant. Capsular contracture is another problem that calls for a breast implant removal procedure. The body begins to react to itself by bleeding, infection, cancer, or scar tissue around the implant.

Another complication is the formation of dead tissue around the material which causes the procedure not to heal. This is called necrosis which is a serious condition that will need medical attention.

ProceduresSurgery is done under either local anesthesia combined with IV sedation or with a general anesthesia and usually takes 30 minutes to an hour in an outpatient facility, barring any unforeseen problems. The surgeon removes the implant through an incision under the breast or through the nipple. Saline implants are sometimes removed by inflating the implant first in order to facilitate easier removal.

Recovery TimeInitial recovery time is quick. Typically, patients may return to common activities within a few days and full activities within 2-3 weeks. Full recovery usually takes a few months.

Surgical Side Affects

Typical: The first few days, the patient may experience discomfort, swelling and bruising.

Uncommon complications: loss of nipple sensation; scarring; bleeding; and loose skin

Large breast implant removal may occasionally be inserted on top of the muscle and under the breast glands. Patients are left with major cosmetic deformity in their breasts if they opt not to replace the breast implants or have further cosmetic surgery. Tissue atrophy and chest wall deformity often result from breast implant removal. Breasts may also be smaller than they were before the implants because of hormonal changes or weight loss. Sagging may also become more apparent after implants are removed.

Emotional side affects sometimes occur in women after breast implants are removed because of the change in body shape. Sometimes the emotional side affect is as dramatic as when one has a mastectomy. It is normal to feel some sadness after having ones body change in this way. If psychological symptoms do not subside in a reasonable amount of time, it is good to seek the help of a professional in resolving these issues.

Cost

Breast implant surgery usually costs usually between $1,000 and $4,000 for the procedure.

Be sure to know all the facts before you undergo breast implant removal surgery so that you can make the wisest decisions concerning your health.

Just because you have kids now doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t feel sexy anymore! After having kids, many women decide to have breast enhancement as part of an overall plan to get that sexy body back!

Many women become self-conscious about their bodies after having kids. Pregnancy has lots of effects on a woman’s body; the stomach and abdomen stretches, muscle is lost and fat is gained, stretch marks appear. It can be hard. Luckily, there is the plastic surgery option.

The mommy makeover is an overall plan that includes several different treatments.

To get rid of excess fat and skin, many women choose removal options such as liposuction.

To get rid of those stretch marks that appear and never go away again, you can have laser surgery so that they will not be visible.

And, for the changes to your bust, there is the option of breast augmentation.

For most women, after you go through pregnancy, your breasts will sag. They will lose the firmness they had before. You may find yourself changing cup sizes, either from a smaller to bigger size or from bigger to smaller.

This can be quite a shock, and an unhappy reminder that aging takes its toll on your body. But, it doesn’t have to stop you from having a body that you love.

A little surgery can help repair the damage done to your body by pregnancy. Just like you can remove the excess fat and skin, you can get back the firmness and shapeliness you once had.

Some women worry that breast feeding will cause shrinkage, and this is not true at all. The reason your bust shrinks after having a baby is that during pregnancy the milk glands get bigger and afterwards, they return to normal.

This happens naturally, whether you plan to breast feed or not. The glands replace fatty tissue, and after your pregnancy, the bust shrinks because the fat is no longer there.

The most common solution to this problem is implants. Implants were once a craze among Hollywood stars and the rich, but now it is common for moms to get implants.

This procedure is safe and can give you back the figure you had before your baby.

During pregnancy and breast feeding, the exact opposite can happen. Women often develop fatty deposits during pregnancy, as they gain overall weight to support the baby. The baby is born, and the stomach goes back down, but the fat is there to stay!

You may find yourself going UP a cup size rather than down, and being too large in proportion to your overall body size can cause back and neck problems.

This is another outpatient surgical operation that can be performed easily by a plastic surgeon. The doctor simply removes fatty tissue, extra skin and glandular tissue. The operation is called “mammoplasty.”

Mammoplasty is safe, but it can cause problems with breast feeding in the future. If this is a concern for you, ask your doctor specifically about it during the consultation.

This is also called “mastoplexy.” It is an operation often used with implants to give you more firmness. It doesn’t make you bigger, but it gives you a lift and counteracts the sagginess that comes after pregnancy.

Mastoplexy is best for women with small breasts that have become saggy over time. By itself, it won’t make as big a difference as other types of augmentation surgery can. But, it will help if you are drooping after giving birth.

Enlargement surgery should be just one part, along with fat removal, extra skin removal and some other minor plastic surgery.

There’s no reason why you shouldn’t have a well shaped, healthy body after pregnancy. And who says moms can’t still turn some heads? Give those breasts the extra lift they need, and you’ll feel like your body is as good as new!
